Te Hiringa Tamariki - The Vitality of Children - Wednesday 5 December, Western Springs Centre

A wellbeing framework for Tamariki Māori - Te Hiringa Tamariki, is being developed by UNICEF.

Te Hiringa Tamariki is UNICEF’s tamariki Māori wellbeing model. The model articulates Māori expectations of tamariki development and will track this wellbeing over time. The measurements

are being developed through anational survey of Māori children, young people and adults. This survey will also be introduced at this hui, andwill ask Māori who attend to complete the survey.

Dr Carla Houkamau (Ngāti Kahungunu/Ngāti Porou) and advocate AntonBlank (Ngāti Porou/Ngāti Kahungunu) have worked together for five years developing frameworks to support Māori wellbeing. They will give an overview of Māori wellbeing knowledge, describe how Te Hiringa Tamariki is being rolled out across the country, and present early surveyfindings.
