Australian National Breastfeeding Strategy 2019 and beyond
The Australian National Breastfeeding Strategy aims to support all mothers, fathers/partners and babies in Australia by providing support for mothers to breastfeed their infants. As carers, mothers and fathers/partners make decisions (including decisions about infant and young child feeding) that can influence short- and long-term health outcomes for themselves and their children.
The Strategy provides a framework for integrated, coordinated action to shape and inform Commonwealth, state, territory and local government policies and programs as they support mothers, fathers/partners and their babies throughout their breastfeeding journeys. It sets out a vision, objectives, principles, priority areas and action areas to provide a supportive and enabling environment for breastfeeding.
