WHO Code
International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes
In 1981 The World Health Assembly adopted the WHO
International Code of Marketing of Breast-milk Substitutes. To achieve
this it recommended as a basis for action various requirements and
restrictions in relation to marketing and distributing breast milk
substitutes. The New Zealand Minister of Health adopted the Code in its
entirety in 1983 through consensus and discussion rather than though
legislation.
